Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring Licensed Veterinary Technicians for overnight relief to support our inpatient team. Tuesday–Friday, 7p–8a, with pay of $26.00–$33.00 per hour plus a full-shift differential. Compensation increases with experience and VTS credentialing.

The role offers growth through our competency leveling system and collaboration with skilled veterinarians to advance your anesthesia, radiography, and critical care skills.

Qualifications

• Active LVT license or eligibility in Virginia.
• Experience in anesthesia induction and monitoring preferred.
• Ability to triage emergency cases and monitor vitals.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases and monitor vitals (temp, HR, RR, BP).
• Perform digital radiography with proper patient positioning.
• Understand normal vital sign ranges and alert veterinarians to changes.
• Calculate medical dosing and administer medications as directed.
• Draw blood and place IV catheters; manage feeding tubes and central lines.
• Mentor and train co-workers; address client concerns with empathy.

is hiring Licensed Veterinary Technicians to help provide relief support to our inpatient overnight team.

Schedule

Our available overnight shifts are Tuesday through Friday, 7p-8a.

Pay

$26.00 - $33.00 / hour + a competitive shift differential for the entire shift!

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system.

At BluePearl Pet Hospital, the role of Veterinary Technician is an exciting opportunity that will allow you to utilize the skills that you have worked so hard to gain. As a Veterinary Technician, You Will

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
