Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Charlestown, MA is seeking a skilled Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technician to enhance our team. In this role, you will monitor and recover anesthesia, triage emergency cases, and assist with critical veterinary care.

Qualifications

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Charlestown, MA is adding a skilled & compassionate Veterinary Technician to our Overnight Emergency team.

We are offering a sign-on bonus up to $10,000 based on experience.

Schedule

3-12 hour shifts

Pay

$24.25 - $49.00 per hour + competitive shift differentials. Pay depends on experience and competency assessment.

Shift Differentials

• Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = +$4.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$4.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$5.50 Shift Differential

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique and positioning.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Show patience and empathy to address client concerns.
