Job summary

Ethos Veterinary Health's SAGE Concord hospital is seeking an Overnight Veterinary Assistant for the Critical Care Unit in Concord, CA. You will care for the hospital's most critically ill patients alongside Emergency clinicians and RVTs, contributing to a fast-paced, high-skill environment.

This full-time overnight role offers a competitive hourly rate up to $30 plus a $5.50 shift differential, with four 10-hour shifts Sunday–Wednesday.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum two years of clinical veterinary experience; CCU/ER experience preferred.
• Strong venipuncture, patient handling, and math calculation skills.
• Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail.
• Calm, compassionate demeanor in a fast-paced critical care setting.

Responsibilities

• Monitor hospitalized and critical care patients, documenting vital signs and changes in condition.
• Provide compassionate nursing support and comfort care for critically ill patients.
• Assist with examinations, treatments, procedures, diagnostic imaging, and patient preparation.
• Administer medications and assist with IV fluid preparation and treatments as directed.
• Maintain accurate medical records, treatment logs, and controlled substance documentation.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked Critical Care Unit.
• Assist with inventory management and equipment maintenance.
• Work closely with veterinarians, RVTs, and support teams.
• Contribute to a positive, collaborative hospital culture.
