Job summary

Ethos Veterinary Health's SAGE San Francisco hospital is seeking an Overnight Senior Veterinary Assistant to support the Emergency & Critical Care team. You will assist with triage, monitoring, procedures, and patient stabilization for critically ill and hospitalized patients alongside veterinarians, RVTs, and support staff.

The role requires a high school diploma, at least three years of hands-on veterinary experience, and strong technical skills such as venipuncture, IV catheter placement,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of three years of hands-on veterinary clinical experience.
• Emergency/ICU/Specialty/high-volume hospital experience strongly preferred.
• Strong technical skills including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, monitoring, and laboratory sample collection.
• Experience with veterinary anesthesia and anesthetic monitoring preferred.
• Californian VACSP permit must be obtained within 60 days of hire or transfer.

Responsibilities

• Assist with triage and provide hands-on support for incoming emergency patients.
• Monitor critically ill, hospitalized, recovering, and fractious patients.
• Assist veterinarians and RVTs with emergency procedures, diagnostics, treatments, and patient stabilization.
• Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, sample collection, and laboratory processing within your scope.
• Assist with medications, IV fluids, CRIs, and prescribed treatments under supervision.
• Support sedation and anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery.
• Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation.
• Assist with client communication and discharge education.
