Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Minnesota seeks an Overnight Veterinary Assistant to support our fast-paced emergency department. You will triage cases as they arrive and assist the DVM with nursing care, diagnostics, and care planning.

Qualifications

• Unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S.
• Overnight shift availability preferred for the schedule.
• Emergency veterinary experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitor therapeutic response.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform phlebotomy.
• Perform physical exam; accurately count heart rate, capillary refill, mucous membranes, temperature, and respiration.
• Possess knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with ASA I or II patients.
• Remain current on RECOVER CPR guidelines and demonstrate proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Overnight Veterinary Assistant to join their fast‑paced emergency department.

Our Veterinary Assistants triage emergency cases as they come in and assist DVM with crafting and going overestimates as needed. In addition, they perform diagnostics (radiographs, labwork, etc.), setting patients up in ICU or Inpatient ward, discharging patients, and handling client communication.

As an Emergency Veterinary Assistant, you will:

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitor therapeutic response.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform phlebotomy.
• Perform physical exam; accurately count heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.
• Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrate proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
