Job summary

Allianceanimalhealth in Ohio is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant for an overnight shift (7pm–7am). The role supports triage, lab work, imaging, and nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases, with medication administration and surgical prep as needed.

The candidate should be able to restrain pets, collect histories, and perform lab tests; anesthesia monitoring is a bonus. A self-starter attitude and ongoing professional development are encouraged.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of veterinary assistant experience preferred.
• Compassionate, calm, team player, and strong communicator.
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs; anesthesia monitoring bonus.
• Self-starter eager to continue advancing knowledge and skillset.

Responsibilities

• Overnight shift from 7pm to 7am.
• Restraint, triage of incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases.
• Administration of medications, surgical preparation and assistance.
• Effective communication of treatment plans with clients.

Job Duties

• This is an overnight position 7pm-7am
• Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients and surgical preparation and assistance.
• Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

• An experienced Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 1-year experience preferred.
