Job summary

Shawnee Animal Clinic is a growing, family‑oriented practice with wonderful clients. We currently have eight doctors of veterinary medicine and over sixty support staff between our hospital, grooming facility, and boarding and training facility.

We are looking for self‑starters who can multi‑task in a fast‑paced veterinary hospital and are eager to learn. The role includes restraint, triage, lab work, imaging, surgical assistance, anesthesia monitoring, and clear communication with clients.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of veterinary assistant experience preferred.
• Compassionate, calm, team player, multi-tasker and strong communicator.
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Experience with sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring is a bonus.
• Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance knowledge and skillset.

Responsibilities

• Restrain pets and triage incoming patients.
• Collect and analyze lab samples, perform diagnostic imaging and anesthesia monitoring.
• Provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases and communicate treatment plans to clients.
• Assist with surgical preparation and anesthesia management.
• Maintain safety around unpleasant odors, noises, and potential exposures.

Job Description

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

Additional Information

Pay Range:$14.00-$15.00per hour
