Job summary

San Diego Youth Services seeks an Overnight Residential Counselor for the Safe Stay Wellness Center in San Diego. This full-time, non-exempt position reports to the Program Manager and focuses on safety, trauma-informed peer support, and a youth-driven milieu for transition-aged youth.

The role requires evening and overnight shifts (3pm-11:30 pm, and 11pm-7:30 am) with responsibilities including staff safety walks, crisis intervention, and collaboration with the SDYS team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience working with youth in residential or shelter settings is preferred.
• Must be willing to develop or possess knowledge of trauma-informed care.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementing trauma-informed programs for transition-aged youth.
• Provide evening/overnight and weekend supervision for youth aged 18-24.
• Maintain accurate documentation and incident reports.
• Ensure safety and cleanliness of the facility and grounds.
• Link youth with community resources and supports.
