Job summary

Casa de Amparo is seeking a Residential Counselor for the PM shift (2:00 PM–12:00 AM) in San Diego, CA. This part-time role supports youth ages 12–17 and their children in a residential treatment setting, providing safety, supervision, and life skills coaching.

You will work with clinical staff to implement treatment plans, document progress, and participate in meetings and trainings. Benefits and special pay considerations apply for experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree (human science field preferred) or equivalent credential.
• Relevant licenses or permits as listed above or demonstrated experience with youth.
• Ability to work with diverse youth and families in a trauma-informed approach.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety of youth and their children in the residential setting.
• Coordinate daily activities, transport residents, supervise chores, meals, and school attendance.
• Collaborate with clinical staff on treatment plans and document progress notes.
• Assist with medication administration and crisis intervention.
• Attend staff meetings and complete required trainings.
• Perform administrative tasks and maintain reporting for facility operations.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Science

Child Development Teaching Permit

Early Childhood Education units + 100 hours youth experience

Alcohol/Drug Counselor certificate + 100 hours youth experience

Vocational training certificate in relevant area

Experience in youth care or group home setting

Crisis intervention and de-escalation skills
