Job summary

Environmental Management Inc. is seeking a Lead Sweep Truck Operator in Plain City, OH to lead overnight sweeping operations and safely operate commercial sweepers.

The role provides day-to-day leadership, training, and support to Sweep Truck Operators, monitors routes and service quality, and ensures safety compliance. The ideal candidate brings leadership and strong communication, with at least 2 years in related operations, and is able to work overnights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.
• CDL preferred but not required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial driving, sweeping, landscaping, construction, or related field operations.
• Previous leadership, crew lead, trainer, or supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced work environment.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience using smartphones, GPS systems, route management software, and mobile applications.
• Ability to work overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
• Exposure to outdoor weather and loud noise levels.
• Nighttime driving and work in low-light conditions.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate commercial sweep trucks in accordance with company policies and regulations.
• Lead and support a team of Sweep Truck Operators during shifts.
• Coordinate and monitor route assignments to complete services efficiently and on time.
• Conduct quality inspections to verify adherence to standards.
• Provide hands-on training and coaching to new and existing operators.
• Assist with onboarding and field training of new team members.
• Monitor performance and communicate operational concerns to management.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies and OSHA requirements.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and document findings.
• Identify and report equipment issues, accidents, or hazards.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and basic preventive maintenance.
• Support route coverage and schedule adjustments as needed.
• Utilize tools to assist property cleaning operations.
• Maintain accurate service records and route documentation.
• Communicate customer concerns and service opportunities to management.
• Promote a positive, accountable team environment.
