Job summary

Environmental Management Inc. is seeking a Lead Sweep Truck Operator to lead overnight sweeping operations and safely operate commercial sweepers. You will mentor Sweep Truck Operators, monitor routes, and ensure quality service while adhering to safety standards.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in related field ops and a valid license; CDL is a plus. Weekend and overnight shifts are possible. Night work requires strict safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • CDL preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial driving, sweeping, landscaping, construction, or related field operations.
  • Previous leadership, crew lead, trainer, or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate commercial sweeper trucks in accordance with company policies, DOT regulations, and traffic laws.
  • Lead and support a team of Sweep Truck Operators during assigned shifts.
  • Coordinate and monitor route assignments to ensure all scheduled services are completed efficiently and on time.
  • Conduct quality inspections of completed work to verify adherence to company standards.
  • Provide hands-on training, coaching, and mentoring to new and existing operators.
  • Assist with onboarding and field training of new team members.
  • Monitor employee performance and communicate operational concerns to management.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements.

Lead Sweep Truck Operator
Job Summary

The Lead Sweep Truck Operator is responsible for leading overnight sweeping operations while safely operating commercial sweeper equipment and ensuring services are completed according to company standards. This role provides day-to-day leadership, training, and support to Sweep Truck Operators; monitors route performance and service quality; ensures compliance with safety procedures; and serves as a key liaison between field employees and management. The ideal candidate is a dependable leader with strong operational knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to safety, quality, and team development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely operate commercial sweeper trucks in accordance with company policies, DOT regulations, and traffic laws.
  • Lead and support a team of Sweep Truck Operators during assigned shifts.
  • Coordinate and monitor route assignments to ensure all scheduled services are completed efficiently and on time.
  • Conduct quality inspections of completed work to verify adherence to company standards.
  • Provide hands‑on training, coaching, and mentoring to new and existing operators.
  • Assist with onboarding and field training of new team members.
  • Monitor employee performance and communicate operational concerns to management.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and verify completion of required vehicle inspections by assigned operators.
  • Identify and report equipment issues, mechanical concerns, accidents, or safety hazards.
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance, including checking fluid levels, cleaning equipment, and maintaining vehicle cleanliness.
  • Assist with route coverage, schedule adjustments, and emergency service requests as needed.
  • Utilize backpack blowers, hand tools, and other equipment to support property cleaning operations.
  • Maintain accurate service records, route documentation, inspections, and work orders.
  • Communicate customer concerns, property issues, and service opportunities to management.
  • Promote a positive team environment focused on accountability, safety, service quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience using smartphones, GPS systems, route management software, and mobile applications.
  • Ability to work overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Work Environment
  • Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and humidity.
  • Frequent work around moving vehicles and mechanical equipment.
  • Exposure to dust, debris, fumes, and airborne particles.
  • Nighttime driving and work in low‑light conditions are required.
  • Frequent exposure to loud noise levels.
  • Occasional exposure to cleaning chemicals and vibration from equipment operation.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit and operate equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to enter and exit vehicles repeatedly throughout the shift.
  • Frequently walk properties to inspect service quality and identify issues.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, climb, and perform repetitive movements.
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions.
  • Sufficient vision and hearing to safely operate equipment and recognize hazards.
Schedule
  • Overnight shifts.
  • Weekend and holiday availability may be required.
  • Overtime may be required based on operational needs, seasonal demand, or special projects.
  • Must be available to assist with route coverage and operational support when needed.
