Job summary

PillPack, LLC is seeking a Staff Pharmacist to join our team and support evening/overnight operations in Plainfield, Indiana. You will oversee medication dispensing, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate with engineers to optimize automation systems.

The role requires a Pharm.D. or Pharm.B.S. and an active state license, with experience in pharmacy automation and handling controlled substances. We offer comprehensive benefits and a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. degree.
  • Active and unrestricted Pharmacy License in state of employment.
  • Proficiency with basic computer functions and pharmacy systems.
  • Exemplary interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain comprehensive customer profiles including current and past medical history, clinical and laboratory data, and concurrent medications.
  • Evaluate physician medication orders for appropriateness of drug, dosage, potential interactions, and route of administration; make recommendations as appropriate.
  • Operate and troubleshoot Pharmacy Automation Systems and automated dispensing platforms.
  • Collaborate with technicians and engineering teams to resolve automation issues and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Dispense controlled substances and maintain regulatory compliance with DEA and state laws.

Wed-Sat 6.30pm-5:00am (4 ten hour shifts/week)

Key job responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
Represents Potential Duties That May Be Required
  • Maintain comprehensive customer profiles including current and past medical history, clinical and laboratory data, and concurrent medications (including over-the-counter and home remedies)
  • Evaluate physician medication orders for appropriateness of drug, dosage, potential interactions, and route of administration. Make recommendations for therapy changes to the prescriber as appropriate
  • Operate and Troubleshoot Pharmacy Automation Systems
  • Utilize, monitor, and troubleshoot automated dispensing and fulfillment systems to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely preparation of prescription orders
  • Collaborate with pharmacy technicians and engineering teams to resolve automation issues, optimize workflows, and maintain compliance with quality and safety standards
  • Dispense Controlled Substances and Maintain Regulatory Compliance
  • Accurately dispense controlled substances in accordance with DEA regulations and state-specific laws
  • Maintain thorough, timely, and auditable records of all controlled substance transactions, including inventory management, reconciliation, and reporting
Requirements

  • Additional Responsibilities:
  • Implement policies and procedures in accordance with state and federal laws
  • Maintain required regulatory documentation
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support pharmacy operations across departments as needed
  • Physical requirements may include ability to perform warehouse work and lift at least 20 pounds
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. degree
  • Active and unrestricted Pharmacy License in state of employment (additional licenses may be required)
  • Proficiency with basic computer functions and pharmacy systems
  • Exemplary interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of pharmacy laws and federal/state regulations
  • Ability to manage high call volume while maintaining quality customer service
