Job summary

The University of Southern California is seeking a polysomnography technologist to perform overnight sleep studies and evaluate sleep disorders at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, within Keck Medicine of USC. You will operate advanced polysomnography equipment and monitor patients, ensuring safety and data integrity.

Responsibilities include setting up devices, scoring studies, and communicating findings to physicians.

Qualifications

• Two years minimum of sleep studies experience.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision to analyze complex situations.
• Teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Review patient information and physician orders.
• Communicate with physicians to clarify orders.
• Interview patients about medications, sleep patterns, and interventions.
• Set up and calibrate equipment prior to patient arrival.
• Explain procedures to patients and obtain consent as needed.
• Prepare patient for procedures as prescribed by physician.
• Apply and titrate CPAP and oxygen therapy.
• Record events, note malfunctions, and adjust environment.
• Respond to medical problems and monitor for dysrhythmias or seizures.
• Safely move patients and ensure safety of all patients.
• Check emergency equipment availability and function.
• Disinfect polysomnography equipment and accessories.
• Conduct MSLTs and MWTs.
• Score polysomnograms and maintenance tests.
• Prepare summarization reports and maintain records.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.
• Stay current on polysomnography techniques and updates.
• Attend staff meetings and case conferences.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
