Job summary

Gilead Community Services in Middletown, CT, seeks a caring Residential Support Worker for an overnight awake shift (Thu–Sat, 11pm–7am) in an adult supervised apartment program serving men with serious mental illness. You will coach, mentor, advocate and teach daily living skills to promote independence.

You’ll assist with meals, chores, money management, coordinate transport, and document care while collaborating with the treatment team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate/bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Understanding needs of clients with severe mental health and substance use disorders through training and education.
• Assisting with meal preparation, household chores, shopping, cleaning, laundry, and money management.
• Providing recovery-oriented services with dignity, respect, and inclusion of family and natural supports.
• Exchanging information between shifts via required reporting documentation and communication.
• Coordinating transportation to treatment, community activities, and appointments.
• Working with the treatment team to support clients’ mental health and risk assessment.
• Acting with compassion, integrity and ethics.
