Job summary

Prince William County Criminal Justice Services is seeking a Probation/Pretrial Specialist to support the community through evidence-based practices. The role focuses on risk assessments, referrals, and collaboration with agencies to promote public safety and client growth.

Responsibilities include conducting court-appropriate risk evaluations, writing reports, and providing guidance to individuals under supervision. Some overnight shifts and weekend duties apply, with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a High School diploma or GED.
• Two years of experience including: risk assessments and referrals based on identified needs.
• Experience working in a jail setting.
• Making recommendations and completing background investigations.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other agencies and stakeholders.
• Advanced communication skills including verbal and written (e.g., court reports).
• Experience speaking in a court setting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct risk assessments and make referrals based on identified needs.
• Collaborate with other agencies and stakeholders to support client services.
• Prepare and present court reports and related documentation.
• Provide supervised support to individuals in the community.
• Maintain documentation and complete background investigations as required.
