Job summary

County of Culpeper seeks a Probation/Pretrial Services professional to supervise defendants under supervision, prepare court‑ready reports, and provide risk/needs assessments in line with evidence‑based practices.

You will conduct drug screening, coordinate referrals, and maintain strong collaborations with courts, law enforcement, and community agencies. A bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, psychology, or social work is preferred, or 3–4 years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or 3–4 years equivalent criminal justice/psychology/social work experience

Responsibilities

• Supervise probationers/defendants under supervision per SOPs and evidence‑based practices
• Prepare and present investigations/reports to court with release/supervision recommendations
• Conduct risk/needs assessments and engage in case planning
• Provide drug screening and refer to treatment as appropriate
• Maintain files and input data into PTCC database
• Coordinate assessments and referrals with community agencies
• Maintain professional relationships with courts, law enforcement, and service providers
• Occur on-call for GPS/alcohol monitoring and respond to violations
