Job summary

Prince William County Criminal Justice Services is seeking a full-time Probation/Pretrial Specialist to supervise and support clients using Evidence Based Practices. The role emphasizes risk assessment, case planning, and collaboration to reduce risk and promote public safety.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED with 5 years of related experience; a bachelor's degree is preferred. Evening travel may be required, with typical Mon-Fri schedule and competitive benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and support to probation/pretrial clients in the community.
  • Develop and monitor case plans including follow-up.
  • Conduct risk assessments and make referrals based on identified needs.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and orally; engage in 1:1 case planning and client coaching.

About This Role:

We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual with exceptional interpersonal skills for a full-time Probation/Pretrial Specialist. Prince William County Criminal Justice Services is an Evidence Based Practices Agency. It is a fast paced, growing, family style organization that promotes public safety. We strive to reduce victimization, break the cycle of crime, and contribute to community restoration by incorporating the use of Evidence Based Practices to assist those under our supervision make positive changes in their lives.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or G.E.D. and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a related field such as criminology, psychology, social services, counseling, or work involving court proceedings, case supervision, or related judicial processes.

Preferences:

The successful candidate will have:

  • A bachelor's degree in Criminology, Psychology, Social Services, Counseling, or a related field, and 5 years of experience related to probation/pretrial services.
  • Experience in the supervision of clients in the community
  • Case management experience
  • Experience conducting risk assessments and making referrals upon identified needs
  • Experience working 1:1 in the creation of case plans to include follow-up
  • Customer service experience
  • Group facilitation experience
  • Experience making presentations
  • Experience working with individuals involved in the Criminal Justice System
  • A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
Special Requirements:

Some overnight travel.

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday typically between 8 am and 5 pm

Starting Salary Range

$36.37 - $50.24
