Qualifications

• High School Diploma and 2 years' experience as a Pharm Tech or completion of NYU Pharmacy Technician training.
• Knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical terminology.
• Ability to follow specific instructions and procedures.
• Excellent organization and communication skills; strong attention to detail.
• Background in computers and basic Microsoft programs; Pharmacy Technician certification/registration per NYSEducation Department.

Responsibilities

• Completes annual competency assessments.
• Completes unit inspection and Expiration Tracking Report assignments.
• Stores and secures stock; reviews stock for expiration.
• Places and expedites orders; verifies receipts; documents on invoices; records in Epic and supplier sites.
• Demonstrates knowledge of State and Federal laws related to controlled substances.
• Maintains inventory; anticipates medication demands; removes outdated medications.
• Prepares sterile products under pharmacist supervision; follows IV room procedures.
• Maintains and cleans equipment and work areas.
• Repackages needed doses; uses Hospital Information System to review patient information and print labels.
• Maintains patient medication profiles and pulls charts for pharmacists.
• Participates in training of new Pharmacy Technicians.
• Answers calls; triages workflow; assists with medication order inquiries.
• Interacts with providers and patients; refers inquiries to a pharmacist.
• Places orders with wholesalers; receives and documents drugs; alerts manager to issues.
