Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care, Department of Pharmaceutical Care seeks a 50% Overnights Pharmacy Technician, certified or trainee, to support Acute Care, Pediatric Pharmacy. Under supervision, you will perform dispensing-related tasks, maintain inventories, and assist with training and supervision as needed.

Shifts run 10:30 pm–7:00 am with every other weekend. Candidates must be registered or start trainee status, with potential pay grade 8 or 10 depending on qualifications.

Qualifications

• Registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy at hire.
• National certification (PTCB/NHA) and ongoing CE requirements.
• High school diploma or equivalent; completed technician training program.

Responsibilities

• Maintain inventory in satellites and dispensing areas and review for expired meds.
• Prepare and label medications; print discharge lists and manage unit doses.
• Deliver meds to patient care areas; ensure secure medication handling.
• Operate OmnicellXT, MedCarousel and other automated dispensing equipment.
• Support sterile compounding and documentation; follow aseptic technique.
