Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a part-time Pharmacy Technician, certified or trainee, to work in the Acute Care IV Ads Pharmacy. This overnight role operates under pharmacist supervision and includes inventory management, dispensing support, and medication delivery for patient care areas.

Responsibilities include maintaining inventory, preparing labels, ensuring drug security, and assisting with training of student technicians.

Qualifications

• Registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy at time of hire.
• National certification through PTCB or NHA; maintain certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of post-high school experience or completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program.

Responsibilities

• Perform inventory maintenance in satellites and dispensing areas, including emergency drug supplies.
• Review pharmacy inventory for expired medications and maintain par levels.
• Manage inpatient Epic In-Baskets, print labels, prepare medications, and document activities.
• Deliver medications to patient care areas and return unused medications.
• Ensure medication security and proper storage, including controlled substances.
• Maintain records related to medication distribution and dispensing.
• Operate equipment such as laminar flow hoods, label printers, and automated dispensing systems.
• Assist with training of pharmacy students and new technicians; provide supervision as needed.
