Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care, Department of Pharmaceutical Care, seeks full-time Pharmacy Technicians (Certified or Trainee) for Acute Care - Pediatrics. Work under pharmacist supervision in a fast-paced facility with PM shifts, weekends rotation, and active involvement in dispensing, inventory, and sterile compounding.

Positions may be filled at Technician Trainee or Certified levels based on qualifications; strong attention to detail and team collaboration are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy at time of hire.
• PTCB or NHA certification and ongoing education requirements.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of post-high school experience and/or education in natural sciences OR completion of an accredited technician program.
• Ability to calculate ratios & proportions for pharmaceutical needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with inventory maintenance in satellites and dispensing areas.
• Deliver medications to patient care areas and manage returns.
• Maintain security and accuracy of controlled substances and medication records.
• Operate and troubleshoot OmnicellXT and AWS Medstations systems.
• Support sterile compounding and patient care activities in the clean room.
