Texas State Aquarium is seeking an overnight, part-time Animal Care Associate to monitor animal areas, life support systems, and facility operations in a quiet, controlled environment.

Responsibilities include rounds, reporting changes, and coordinating with the Director of Animal Care. A one-year certificate or 3–6 months of related experience is required; equivalent combinations are acceptable. Overnight position with flexible scheduling may be available.

Qualifications

• One-year certificate from college or technical school, or 3-6 months related experience.
• Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Responsabilités

• Monitor animal areas, facility systems, and life support overnight.
• Conduct routine rounds and observe changes or concerns.
• Recognize and report changes in animal behavior, building systems, and equipment performance.
• Provide accurate status updates at shift change and communicate overnight system changes to managerial and other department staff.
• Work independently during overnight hours.
• Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Animal Care.
• Comply with all safety practices, Animal Care policies, practices, and procedures, employee handbook policies, and all applicable governmental and AZA standards.
