Job summary

Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi, TX, is seeking a dedicated part-time animal care professional to support our diverse collection. You will help provide primary care and rehabilitation for birds, reptiles and mammals, and assist in daily opening and closing procedures and feeding protocols.

You will enter data into TRACKS, assist in water quality duties, and help maintain exhibits and rehabilitation areas while adhering to AZA/government policies.

Qualifications

  • Provide primary care for birds, reptiles and mammals.
  • Assist in rehabilitation of sea turtles and marine mammals.
  • Assist in daily opening and closing procedures and feeding protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary care for a diverse collection of birds, reptiles and mammals.
  • Provide primary care and rehabilitation to sea turtles and marine mammals.
  • Participate in the medical care and conditioning of our collection animals and rehabilitation patients.
  • Assist in daily opening and closing procedures, maintenance of exhibits and rehabilitation areas.
  • Assist in the preparation of food according to established procedure.
  • Assist in cleaning and maintenance of utensils and equipment used to feed and care for animals.
  • Assist in facility maintenance of the animal areas.
  • Perform water quality duties.
  • Enter Data into TRACKS.
  • Complete animal behavioral observations and report abnormalities to supervisor.
  • Adhere to all governmental/AZA policies regarding acquisition, husbandry, records, and animal health.

Requirements

Any combination of education and experience which would likely produce the required knowledge, skills and abilities.Valid Texas Driver’s License with insurable driving record
