Job summary

The Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi is seeking a part-time Animal Care team member to join our frontline wildlife program. You will provide primary care for birds, reptiles and mammals, assist in rehabilitation efforts, and help maintain exhibits and daily operations.

Responsibilities include food preparation, cleaning, water quality duties, data entry into TRACKS, and recording behavioral observations. You must meet the requirements and follow AZA/government policies.

Qualifications

• Valid Texas driver's license with insurable driving record.
• Experience with birds, reptiles and mammals preferred.
• Experience with wildlife rehabilitation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary care for a diverse collection of birds, reptiles and mammals.
• Provide primary care and rehabilitation to sea turtles and marine mammals.
• Assist in the medical care and conditioning of our collection animals and rehabilitation patients.
• Assist in daily opening and closing procedures, maintenance of exhibits and rehabilitation areas.
• Assist in the preparation of food according to established procedure.
• Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of utensils and equipment used to feed and care for animals.
• Assist in facility maintenance of the animal areas.
• Perform water quality duties.
• Enter data into TRACKS.
• Complete animal behavioral observations and report abnormalities to supervisor.
• Adhere to all governmental/AZA policies regarding acquisition, husbandry, records, and animal health.
