Job summary

Hendricks Behavioral Hospital in Plainfield, IN is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Technician (MHT) for overnight shifts (7:00pm-7:30am) to support a multidisciplinary treatment team. You'll monitor patients, record vital signs, and assist with discharge planning, under the guidance of an RN.

The role emphasizes crisis-intervention skills, group facilitation, and adherence to therapeutic interventions in a safe, compassionate environment.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Degree or equivalent preferred; Certified Nursing or NAR required; Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy, psychology, human services, or appropriate therapeutic discipline preferred.
• Experience: One year of related experience, with a knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with an understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately record vital signs
• Exercise judgment in patient interactions and report changes to the RN
• Follow therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team and provide information for development and revision
• Employ crisis-intervention techniques, conduct MHT-led groups, and use facility-approved CPI techniques
• Assist patients through discharge, guide in adjusting to life changes, and help with personal hygiene
• Comply with policies for a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment, practicing universal precautions and responding to patient care priorities.
