Job summary

Clearwater at Rancharrah, a premier luxury senior living community in Reno, is seeking a full-time Medication Technician for the night shift. You will document, deliver and administer medicines with exceptional resident service, in compliance with policies and regulations.

Responsibilities include assisting residents with daily medications, documenting outcomes, coordinating with pharmacies and physicians, and maintaining confidential records.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• A minimum of one year of work experience as a Caregiver or Medication Technician.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred.
• Active First Aid/CPR/BLS Certification required.
• Background clearances as required by government regulations.
• Must meet health requirements, including TB.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily medications, treatments and resident care as assigned and within scope of practice, policy and procedures, and government regulations.
• Observe, verify and document that medication is ingested or applied as directed.
• Notify supervisor if prescribed medication is not administered according to directions and document the reason(s) why.
• Maintain clear, accurate, complete and confidential records on resident medication and care.
• Coordinate medication services with resident, pharmacy and physician(s) and verify dosages with physician prior to dispensing.
• Track all orders for medication changes and/or refills – prepare medications for distribution up to 24 hours in advance.
• Participate in narcotic counts at shift start/end and report discrepancies to supervisor(s).
• Assist caregivers in performing their duties and assume responsibilities when needed.
• Respond to resident needs promptly while maintaining dignity, safety and confidentiality.
• Read and follow care plans to ensure proper care is given.
• Assist residents in daily living activities including bathing, dressing, hygiene, meals, mobility.
• Provide mealtime assistance with meals, serving, eating and tray clearance.
• Escort residents to/from meals, activities or other transportation needs with safe transfer techniques.

The Medication Technician is responsible for documenting, delivering and administering medicines to residents as prescribed by physician(s) with superior customer service and in accordance with all policies, procedures, government regulators and guidelines.

• Assist residents in their daily living activities including bathing, dressing, hygiene (including
• shaving, hair care, etc.), meals, activities, bowel and bladder functions (including taking to
• bathrooms, portable commodes, changing incontinence products, etc.)
• Provide assistance at mealtime with selecting meals, serving, eating, and clearing trays
• Transport residents as necessary assisting them into and out of bed, wheelchairs, etc. following
• all safety/lifting and transferring techniques – escorting them to/from meals, activities, or
• other transportation needs as requested or assigned
