Overnight Line Cook (Full Time) - InterContinental Houston

Hotel: IC - Houston (HOUIT), 6750 Main St, 77030

Prepare meals in accordance with portion and quality standards specified in recipes. Control food usage to minimize waste.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Advise supervisor of low inventory items; assist in receiving items and taking inventory as required; minimize waste.
• Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments, including Sales & Marketing, Catering, Banquets, Outlets, Maintenance, and Guest Services. May occasionally interact directly with guests.
• Maintain a clean, neat, and well‑organized work area, including reach‑ins, walk‑ins, and counters. Report all unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.
• Assist by performing ware washer or other duties as needed.
• Prepare and cook orders for daily operations.
• Maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards in the kitchen area that meet or exceed the state and local Health Board inspection and InterContinental requirements.
• Notify supervisor or duty manager about any unsafe equipment, low supplies, or safety incidents.
• Help create a safe space by following safety procedures and wearing necessary protective equipment.
• May assist with other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS

• Basic reading, writing, and math skills. Some food preparation experience or training preferred.
• Fluent in the local language.
• Ability to perform the following tasks:
• Carry or lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Stand and move about the kitchen.
• Handle food, objects, products, and utensils.
• Use communication skills when interacting with other cooks, wait staff, and supervisors.
• Read and write when preparing meals from a recipe or monitoring inventory.
• Apply basic mathematical skills, including percentages, quantities, and variances.
• Possess alcohol‑awareness certification, food service permit, or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state government agency.
• Work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
