BluePearl Pet Hospital in Queens, NY is seeking an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency team for Mid Shift. This role offers a sign-on bonus up to $25,000 based on experience and base pay of $30.00–$55.00 per hour, with shift differentials.

You will triage emergencies, monitor vitals, and provide anesthesia care. We reward ongoing professional development with CE allowances and licensure support.

Qualifications

• Licensed Veterinary Technician with emergency experience.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia and use monitors.
• Triage emergencies and obtain vitals such as temp, HR, RR and BP.
• Perform digital radiography with correct patient positioning.
• Interpret vitals ranges and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Identify arrest risk and initiate CPR when needed.
• Calculate medical math and administer meds.
• Phlebotomy and IV catheter placement skills.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central lines.
• Mentor and train co-workers.
• Address client concerns with empathy.

Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Queens, NY is seeking an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our dedicated Emergency team for Mid Shift.

** This position is offering up to a $25,000 sign on bonus based on experience.**

Schedule:

Thurs-Sat, 8p-8a.

Base Pay:

$30.00 - $55.00 / hour

This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum. For example:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $4.50/hr.
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $4.50/hr.
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $8.0/hr.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
