Job summary

Colorado State University’s Veterinary Health System seeks a Veterinary Technician focused on clinical livestock patient care. The role includes overseeing treatment under faculty supervision, handling restraining, monitoring, venipuncture, and assisting in procedures, while maintaining accurate electronic medical records and supporting staff with inventory and biosecurity duties.

Applicants must have an associate degree in veterinary/animal health technology and RVT/PVT credentials with a plan

Qualifications

• Associate degree in veterinary/animal health technology with one year of surgery/animal anesthesia experience.
• RVT or PVT license/credential with plan to obtain full license by start date.
• Minimum one year livestock experience.
• Ability to safely handle livestock including cattle, pigs, sheep, goats and camelids.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for livestock including restraint, triage, monitoring, venipuncture, catheter assistance, drug calculations and treatments.
• Assist with procedures, surgeries, anesthesia support and case intake; prepare equipment and assist during procedures.
• Maintain medical documentation in EMR, update clinician orders and manage billing and charge capture.
• Restock and monitor equipment and supplies; manage biosecurity supplies and cleanliness.
