Job summary

Hope the Mission in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a dedicated Dishwasher for our high‑volume kitchen serving people experiencing homelessness. This full‑time role emphasizes sanitation, organization, and reliable dishwashing processes.

You will work under the Chef de Cuisine to maintain clean stations, assist with basic food preparation and events, and ensure safety and compliance in a fast‑paced environment that embodies our mission to help those in need.

Qualifications

• Valid food handler certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and sustain physical activity; standing, bending, stooping, and repetitive motion.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality; reliable for every scheduled shift.
• Availability to work weekends, holidays, and variable hours as required by kitchen operations.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils by hand or using dishwashing equipment, ensuring cleanliness and sanitation.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment including mixers, slicers, food processors, ovens, steam kettles and more.
• Clean, reset, and refill all dish stations and hand sink stations at the beginning and end of each shift.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation at all times.
• Sweep and mop all kitchen floors, walk‑in refrigerators, freezer, loading dock, and receiving dock daily.
• Organize and clean kitchen areas including dry storage, refrigeration, and freezer storage.
• Inspect and clean equipment, appliances, and work areas to ensure a hygienic environment.
• Report equipment malfunctions or safety hazards promptly.
• Maintain and organize kitchen equipment and utensils; ensure they are clean and in good condition.
• Refill dish soap, hand soap, sanitizer, paper towel dispensers, and glove holders daily.
• Monitor dishwashing supply levels and notify management when inventory is low.
