Job summary

The Pavilion Behavioral Health System in Champaign, IL is hiring an Intake Registered Nurse (RN) for overnight full-time coverage (36 hours/week). The RN will handle telephonic and in-person risk assessments, coordinate referrals, admissions, and family communications, and work with the UR and Business Office on insurance verification and prior authorizations.

Current IL RN licensure is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred, with 2–3 years in substance use or psychiatric settings including

Qualifications

• Licensure: Currently licensed in the state of Illinois as a Registered Nurse
• Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Experience: 2-3 years in substance abuse/psychiatric treatment programs, including intake/admissions and managed care preferred

Responsibilities

• Answers telephone using appropriate greeting and obtains clinical, demographic and insurance information to determine caller needs.
• Performs telephonic risk screening to assess suicidality/homicidality.
• Provides referral recommendations and admission guidance based on criteria for inpatient or outpatient levels of care.
• Schedules assessments with potential patients and explains the assessment/admission process.
• Greet and orient patients and families to the evaluation/admission process.
• Conducts assessments and coordinates with the psychiatrist; handles direct admits from hospitals or referral sources.
