Job summary

Universal Health Services seeks an Intake Registered Nurse (RN) for overnight shifts (7pm–7:30am) in Champaign, IL. The role involves telephonic and in-person risk assessments to guide appropriate levels of care and to coordinate admissions with referral sources and families.

The RN collaborates with the UR and Business Office for insurance verification, authorization and patient data, supporting smooth transitions and quality patient care across inpatient and outpatient services.

Qualifications

• RN licensed in Illinois
• Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred
• 2–3 years in substance abuse/psychiatric settings is preferred

Responsibilities

• Answer calls with appropriate greeting and collect clinical, demographic and insurance information.
• Perform telephonic risk screening for suicidality/homicidality.
• Advise on admission criteria and make referral recommendations.
• Schedule assessments and inform patients and families of admission processes.
• Coordinate with psychiatrist and review patient transfers as needed.
• Enter information into EMR accurately and completely.
• Obtain timely signatures and explain paperwork to patients.
