Job summary

Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in Red Bank, NJ is seeking a Veterinary Technician Supervisor for the Overnight Inpatient unit. The role blends hands-on patient care with leadership responsibilities in a cutting-edge specialty and emergency environment, and runs Sunday to Wednesday, 10:00pm–8:00am.

The position involves about 25% administrative duties and 75% clinical work, with opportunities to mentor staff, optimize workflows, and partner with hospital leadership on program development.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• If non-credentialed: Enrollment in AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program a plus.
• Associate's Degree preferred.
• LVT, CVT, or RVT credential preferred.
• Minimum of two years of experience as a veterinary nursing team member.
• Minimum of one year of leadership or supervisory experience.
• Experience leading teams in specialty, emergency, or referral veterinary medicine preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced specialty hospital environment.
• Fluent English skills required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a hands-on clinical leader while actively participating in patient care and supporting Inpatient operations.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop nursing staff while promoting accountability, teamwork, and professional growth.
• Manage daily workflows and staffing to ensure efficient department operations and exceptional patient care.
• Create and adjust staff schedules to maintain appropriate coverage based on patient volume and departmental needs.
• Conduct interviews, assist with hiring decisions, and support onboarding of new team members.
• Complete performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching, development, and performance feedback.
• Oversee payroll processes, attendance management, and paid time off requests.
• Partner with hospital leadership on performance management and compensation recommendations.
• Collaborate with the Clinical Trainer to implement educational initiatives and department-specific training programs.
• Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture while assisting with conflict resolution and employee engagement.
• Ensure proper utilization and availability of equipment, supplies, and hospital resources.
• Support hospital initiatives, departmental goals, and continuous improvement efforts.
