Job summary

Hilton Garden Inn Asheville South in Asheville, NC is seeking an Overnight Security Officer to maintain a safe, welcoming environment for guests and staff. You will patrol interior and exterior areas, monitor entrances, report hazards, and handle incidents with professionalism.

The role requires vigilance, strong communication, and the ability to work independently, including overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays. CPR/First Aid is a plus, with a focus on policy enforcement and guest safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous security, hospitality, or related experience preferred.
• Strong observational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to remain calm, professional, and decisive during challenging situations.
• Dependable, punctual, and capable of working with minimal supervision.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
• Comfortable documenting incidents clearly and accurately.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular patrols of the hotel's interior and exterior, including guest floors, parking areas, stairwells, entrances, and common spaces.
• Monitor entrances, exits, and restricted areas to help maintain property security.
• Maintain a visible and professional presence throughout the hotel.
• Identify and promptly report suspicious activity, safety hazards, and maintenance concerns.
• Monitor surveillance cameras and report equipment malfunctions or security concerns.
• Respond promptly and professionally to guest concerns, disturbances, alarms, and emergencies.
• Address unauthorized visitors, loitering, and disruptive behavior using appropriate de-escalation techniques.
• Assist guests and team members with safety-related concerns while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.
• Contact emergency services or law enforcement when necessary and cooperate with responding personnel.
• Support the consistent enforcement of hotel policies and security procedures.
• Complete accurate daily security logs, patrol records, and incident reports.
• Immediately communicate significant safety or security concerns to hotel management.
• Provide clear shift updates to ensure continuity between departments.
• Work closely with Front Desk and other hotel team members to maintain a safe and organized operation.
