Job summary

Hyatt Regency Minneapolis is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our Engineering team. This role ensures safe operation of hotel facilities, performs preventive maintenance, and responds to guest and staff requests to provide a safe, comfortable guest experience.

Responsibilities include diagnosing issues across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems, maintaining logs, and coordinating with vendors for specialized repairs. Overnight shifts and on-call coverage are required.

Qualifications

Overnight availability for shift coverage (11:00PM–7:30AM typical)
Technical or vocational training in maintenance, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or related field preferred
Minimum 2 years of maintenance, facilities, building engineering, or hotel maintenance experience preferred
Experience with hospitality or multi-unit facilities is desirable
Proficient in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical systems
Ability to troubleshoot equipment and building maintenance issues
Able to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
Strong customer service and communication skills are essential
Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
Proficient with maintenance tools, equipment, and computerized work-order systems
Strong attention to detail and safety conscious
Physically capable to stand/walk/bend/climb and lift up to 50 pounds
Work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and conditions

Responsibilities

Perform daily inspections of hotel facilities and equipment
Diagnose and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and building-related issues
Complete preventive maintenance programs for guest rooms, public spaces, and operational equipment
Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and hotel departments
Repair and maintain doors, locks, lighting fixtures, appliances, furniture, walls, ceilings, flooring, and fixtures
Monitor and maintain boilers, chillers, water systems, generators, fire life-safety systems, and other building equipment
Maintain swimming pool and related equipment in compliance with health regulations, if applicable
Conduct routine inspections to identify potential safety hazards and maintenance concerns
Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and preventive maintenance records
Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and projects
Ensure compliance with OSHA, local building codes, fire regulations, and company safety standards
Assist with hotel renovations, room upgrades, and capital improvement projects
Participate in emergency response procedures and on-call maintenance support as required
