Job summary

Sentara Health is seeking an Overnight Communication Assistant in the Virginia Beach area. This is a remote position with requirement to reside in Hampton Roads or Blue Ridge, and occasional office visits if connectivity or power issues occur.

Shifts are rotating: Sun-Thu 9:30pm-8:00am and Fri-Sat 10:30pm-9:00am. You will support the Centralized Hospital Communications Center, handling emergent and non-emergent calls and coordinating with departments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of computer/keyboard skills required.
• Healthcare and multi-line phone experience preferred.
• Understanding of medical terminology.
• Customer service experience.
• Call center experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate emergent and non-emergent communication for the Centralized Hospital Communications Center.
• Lookup patient information for friends and family and transfer calls to appropriate departments.
• Utilize on-call schedules to escalate issues and coordinate nurse-to-physician communications.
• Assist with training new assistant-level employees.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
