Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department, and monitor all established quality assurance standards. Responsibilities
  1. Promote trust and respect among associates.
  2. Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
  3. Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions and make suggestions about products.
  4. Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
  5. Inform customers of dairy specials.
  6. Provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered.
  7. Recommend items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
  8. Check product quality to ensure freshness, review “sell by” dates, and take appropriate action.
  9. Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  10. Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
  11. Display a positive attitude.
  12. Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
  13. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  14. Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintained.
  15. Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions and notify store management.
  16. Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
  17. Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
  18. Report all safety risks, or issues, and illegal activity, including: robbery, theft, or fraud.
  19. Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  20. Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
  21. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  22. Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
  23. Support and assist through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  24. Perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
