Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Augusta, GA is seeking a compassionate and skilled Veterinary Assistant with strong phlebotomy experience to join our overnight emergency team. This 3x12 schedule includes rotating weekends and a competitive pay with shift differentials.

Responsibilities include triaging emergencies, radiographs, lab work, nursing care, and assisting DVMs. You will handle phlebotomy, administer medications, manage ICU patients, and communicate with clients while upholding hospital

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy experience required.
• Ability to triage emergency cases.
• Knowledge of radiographs and basic lab work.
• Nursing care aligned with hospital standards.
• Familiarity with anesthesia and monitoring equipment.
• Excellent client communication skills.
• Ability to discharge patients and discuss estimates.

Responsibilities

• Triage emergency cases as they arrive.
• Perform diagnostic procedures, including radiographs and laboratory work.
• Provide nursing care in accordance with hospital standards of care and core values.
• Conduct physical exams, including heart rate, pulse, capillary refill, mucous membranes, temperature and respiratory rate.
• Perform phlebotomy.
• Administer medications and monitor therapeutic responses.
• Set up and manage patients in the ICU or inpatient ward.
• Report patient signalment, problem lists, and treatment plans during rounds.
• Demonstrate knowledge of anesthesia and monitoring equipment.
• Assist with ASA I or II patients; discharge patients and discuss estimates.
