Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel
The Omni Ft. Lauderdale Hotel is a 29-story hotel located at 1950 Eisenhower Blvd, connected directly to the Broward County Convention Center. The property offers 801 guest rooms and suites, multiple restaurants, a vibrant rooftop bar, a sprawling pool, spa, and fitness center. The hotel has over 120,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, including a grand ballroom, junior ballroom, 25 breakout rooms, and pre‑function meeting space with waterfront views.
Job Purpose
To ensure a safe, efficient, well‑maintained hotel environment while providing maintenance services to guests in a courteous, professional, and engaging manner.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintain all public areas, guest rooms, meeting rooms and corridors on an ongoing basis, including paint, wallpaper and plastering.
- Perform preventive maintenance of guest rooms following the Omni CARE program guidelines.
- Maintain correct stock/inventory of paint supplies and materials and communicate when replenishment is needed.
- Aid guests in locating other areas of the hotel (walk them to destination if possible).
- Have a thorough understanding of Omni's fire alarm procedures and emergency evacuation.
- Be familiar with Omni's systems and procedures.
- Respond to all requests from guests and associates.
- Assist engineers and mechanics as needed with repairs.
- Keep all work areas clean.
- Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions; complete safety training and certifications.
- Ensure clean uniform and professional personal appearance; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a commercial painter required; hotel experience preferred.
- Must be able to brush, roll, spray, and work on different textures.
- Must be able to patch, float and repair damaged surfaces.
- Must be able to work with stains, lacquers, varnishes, epoxy and Bondo.
- Must be able to apply caulk.
- Must be willing to work based on business and occupancy levels.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
- Must be able to interact and communicate with the hotel guests.
- Move, bend, lift, carry, crawl, squat, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance; stand, walk or sit for extended periods or for an entire work shift.
- Must work indoors and outdoors, including during extreme weather conditions.
- May be asked to be part of “ride‑out” crew during severe weather events.
- Must be able to work using ladders, scissors, and aerial lifts.
Environment & Position Analysis
- Move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance; stand, walk or sit for extended periods or for an entire work shift; requires repetitive motion, including utilizing telephone/computer for extended periods or for an entire shift.
Tools & Equipment
- Painting/finishing tools and equipment, ladder, telephone, pen/pencil, photocopying machine, and push‑to‑talk radio.
