Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring for an Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technician!

Position Details

Pay: $20.00 - $40.50 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and depends on experience, licensure, and progression through our leveling system. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

Shift Information: This is an overnight position! We offer a competitive shift differential for all overnight shifts, based on a 4-hour minimum:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $4.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.00 Shift Differential

Responsibilities

1. Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia, using anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
2. Triage emergency cases, including obtaining vital signs such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
3. Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
4. Understand normal ranges of patient vital signs and alert veterinarians to abnormalities.
5. Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
6. Calculate medical dosages accurately and administer medications appropriately.
7. Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in peripheral vessels.
8. Place and maintain feeding tubes and central lines.
9. Mentor and train team members.
10. Address client concerns with patience and empathy.
