Job summary

MedVet is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant - Overnights in Akron, OH. This role drives the emergency team during night shifts, with a proposed schedule of Saturday-Monday 9p-9:30a and a hiring range of $17.00-28.00/hr based on experience.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience required.
• Emergency experience desired.
• Ability to work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Record and discuss cases and gather information as necessary.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions and medications.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house lab testing and prepare samples for outside lab testing.
