Job summary

MedVet in Akron is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant for evening shifts. Join a fast-paced ER team delivering critical care and compassionate client service.

You will record rounds, prioritize patients, assist DVM, monitor anesthesia, perform in-house labs, and educate clients. Prior veterinary and emergency experience preferred; strong math and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience required.
• Emergency experience desired.
• Proficient in drug calculations and unit conversions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information as necessary.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education on home care, medications and wellness updates.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside testing.
