Sherwood South Animal Hospital & Emergency Center in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking an experienced Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our overnight ER team. This role is ideal for technicians who thrive in fast-paced emergency environments, enjoy hands-on critical care, and want to be part of a strong, supportive overnight crew.

We provide 24/7 emergency and critical care alongside primary care, dentistry, boarding, and grooming for pets across East & West Baton Rouge Parish and surrounding

Qualifications

• Emergency veterinary technician experience required.
• Comfort in fast-paced, high-acuity environments.
• Experience with anesthesia monitoring and surgical assisting.
• Strong attention to detail and clinical observation skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians during emergency exams, treatments and procedures.
• Provide advanced nursing care and emergency first aid to critical patients.
• Support anesthesia, surgical assisting and post-operative monitoring.
• Prepare patients and instruments for emergency procedures.
• Monitor patients under anesthesia and note condition changes.
• Collect laboratory samples and perform in-house diagnostics.
• Operate digital radiography and advanced diagnostic equipment.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Record patient histories and medical records accurately.
• Maintain clean, organized, and sterile exam, treatment and lab areas.
• Use safe restraint techniques and follow hospital protocols.
• Support smooth patient flow and collaborate with overnight medical team.
• Mentor and support team members as needed.
