BluePearl Pet Hospital North Hills in Pittsburgh is hiring a Kennel Assistant for the Emergency Department Overnight with flexibility to assist other departments. Pay is $15.95 - $18.33 per hour, starting point based on experience and leveling.

VTS credentialing earns compensation commensurate with experience, and eligible shift differentials apply for nights and weekends. The role involves basic patient care, maintaining a clean facility, and assisting with restraints during procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience in animal care or a veterinary setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observe patients for health concerns and report findings to senior staff.
• Clean and disinfect hospital areas and equipment to maintain high care standards.
• Prepare patient meals, clean cages and bedding, and manage litter boxes.
• Safely restrain cooperative patients during treatments as needed.
• Provide routine patient care, including walking dogs.
• Maintain cleanliness and operation of hospital tools and equipment.
• Record patient voids and communicate results to senior staff.
• Remove and wash soiled laundry and keep supplies stocked.
• Regularly patrol the facility to ensure cleanliness.

BluePearl Pet Hospital in North Hills, Pittsburgh is seeking a dedicated Kennel Assistant primarily for our Emergency Department Overnight, with the ability to circulate to other departments as needed.

Pay: $15.95 - $18.33 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through leveling system

** Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience**

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.

*Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

For example:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $4.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.00 Shift Differential

A Kennel Assistant attends to the basic needs of animals that are patients of the hospital and cleans the hospital facility, equipment, and tools. The role may include assistance with basic patient care such as the safe restraint of patients during treatment.

As a Kennel Assistant, you will:

• Observe patients for obvious signs of health concerns and report any findings to senior staff.
• Clean and disinfect areas of the hospital as often as is necessary to maintain high standards of care.
• Prepare patient meals, clean patient cages , and bedding, and maintain litter boxes.
• Safely approach and restrain cooperative patients as needed during treatments.
• Provide routine attention to patients, including walking dogs.
• Effectively clean and maintain hospital equipment and tools.
• Quantify patient voids and report findings to senior Veterinary Assistant or Technician.
• Remove and wash soiled laundry and keep clean laundry stocked.
• Patrol facility regularly to ensure cleanliness.
