Job summary

Alternatives, Inc. in Hillsborough, NJ is seeking a full-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver for overnight shifts in a residential setting.

You will assist adults with developmental disabilities in daily living activities, administer medications, help with meals and hygiene, and transport to appointments. You will implement behavioral plans, teach new skills, encourage community participation, and report health and safety concerns with accurate records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks and a drug screen.
• Clear tuberculosis (TB) screening.
• Ability to pass and maintain required trainings such as CPR/first aid, medication administration, and positive behavioral support training.
• Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist adults with activities of daily living and medication administration.
• Support residents with meals, personal hygiene, and transportation to medical appointments.
• Implement individual behavioral plans using teaching and mentoring techniques.
• Encourage community outings and recreational activities based on interests.
• Report health and safety concerns and keep documentation up-to-date.
