Job summary

Brown University in the United States is seeking a part-time Supervisor, Custodial Services for the 3rd shift (Friday and Saturday 11:00pm-8:00am). The role supervises custodial staff to ensure clean, well-maintained facilities, overseeing payroll data, attendance, and work orders while coordinating safety and union-related processes.

You will train staff, manage equipment, and respond to maintenance issues, with emphasis on quality service, teamwork, and adherence to Brown’s equal opportunity

Qualifications

• Associates degree and 2–4 years’ custodial/janitorial/maintenance experience or equivalent.
• 2 years’ experience supervising employees; preferably in a union environment.
• Knowledge of the principles, practices, procedures, equipment, tools and materials common to the custodial/janitorial profession.
• Knowledge of floor care procedures and equipment.
• Knowledge of general industry safety practices and standards within the custodial profession.
• Knowledge of supervising bargaining unit employees.”
• Excellent customer oriented service skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a collaborative, diverse environment.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office software and ability to process time & attendance, and work order scheduling.
• Demonstrated ability to synthesize information and plan appropriate response.

Responsibilities

• Supervise custodial staff and coordinate tasks to ensure clean, well-maintained facilities.
• Submit payroll data and maintain attendance records.
• Maintain key control system and process work orders; administer safety program.
• Respond to maintenance issues as first responder and communicate with stakeholders.
