Job summary

Kids for the Future in Oceanside, CA is seeking a part-time Counselor I to provide crisis intervention, behavioral health services, and discharge planning coordination on-site. The role supports clients through assessments, individual/group interventions, and collaboration with regional providers to ensure access to services.

Requires a 4-year degree in a mental health field, up to 1 year of relevant experience, and CPR/First Aid certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a mental health-related field such as Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling required
• At least 1 year of experience working with a mental health population preferred
• First Aid/CPR certification is required and must be kept current during employment
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment is essential
• A valid California driver's license and eligibility to be an approved CRF driver is required; proof of insurance for driving personal vehicles
• Ability to pass criminal/background clearance

Responsibilities

• Assist with initial behavioral health assessment of new clients as experience allows
• Provide individual contacts, group, and milieu psychosocial services for clients
• Act as admission coordinator and/or team lead if designated
• Assist with discharge planning and care coordination; work with providers to access services
• Consult with family regarding treatment and discharge planning
• Conduct crisis intervention and risk assessment; respond to crises to ensure safety
