Job summary

University of St. Thomas Public Safety is hiring Full‑time Public Safety Officers to work 12‑hour overnight shifts from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, with initial training on day/swing/night shifts. Starting pay is $24.00 per hour, plus a $1.00 night shift differential for actual hours worked.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Two years of relevant public safety experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Pass self-defense and training programs within the first six months of training.

Responsibilities

• Protect life, safeguard property and maintain peace and order at two urban campus locations through enforcement of laws and university rules.
• Proactively patrol a residential community of about 2,500 people.
• Prevent crime and respond to emergency situations.
• Work closely with local police and emergency service personnel.
• Establish and foster community relationships.
• Conduct preliminary investigations and prepare, write and file reports.
