Job summary

The University of Tampa is seeking a Campus Safety Officer for the 11 p.m. – 7 a.m. shift.

You will patrol campus, maintain security, and respond to incidents to protect students, faculty, staff, visitors, and property. The role requires strong communication, professional ethics, and the ability to de-escalate conflicts. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, may have prior law enforcement or military police experience, and must meet Florida licensing requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in law enforcement/retired military police preferred.
• Florida Class D and G licenses or ability to qualify.
• Ability to de-escalate conflict and remain professional under pressure.
• Must pass background and physical checks.

Responsibilities

• Patrol campus perimeter, buildings and grounds to deter crime.
• Maintain building and room security.
• Respond to crimes and incidents and report findings.
• Respond to alarms and disturbances; take action as needed.
• Control vehicle and pedestrian traffic; enforce parking regulations.
• Unlock/lock buildings when facilities staff are unavailable.
• Represent the University of Tampa professionally when assisting the public.
