Job summary

YMCA of the Triangle is seeking an Executive Director for Camp Barbara, a new overnight camp in Bailey, NC. You will lead program design, staffing, budgets, partnerships, and strategic growth to create impactful youth development experiences.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of progressive leadership in overnight camping or human services, with a strong track record in budgeting, fundraising, and board collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of progressive leadership experience in overnight camping, human services or related field.
• Proven leadership and relationship-building skills.
• Demonstrated ability in program design, development, and delivery.
• Ability to coach, mentor, and lead through complex initiatives, change, and challenges.
• Strong financial management skills and budget oversight.
• Outstanding communication skills, including public speaking and presentations.
• Ability to collaborate with community partners and volunteers.
• Proficient with Microsoft 365 Office applications (Word, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint, OneDrive, PowerBi, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to use data to drive business decisions and planning.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Strong collaboration and influential leadership.
• Strategic understanding of funding opportunities and growth.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a fun, safe, engaging camper experience aligned with camp standards.
• Lead planning, execution, and improvement of year-round programs with focus on growth and sustainability.
• Achieve enrollment goals through recruitment strategies and community engagement.
• Oversee facility maintenance, capital projects, and expansion needs.
• Manage annual budget of $1.5M–$3M with robust controls and forecasting.
• Represent Camp Barbara professionally with stakeholders.
